My father came to Southwold from the Ipswich area as manager of the coal yard, which was situated roughly where the fire station now stands.

He kept pigs as a hobby but, due to the market forces of the day, nobody wanted to buy his pigs, so my mother said 'we will open a shop and sell your pigs retail in small pieces', and this she did.  25 High Street where it all started is now an up-market restaurant*. Only the small bow window has survived to this day.
